Chole Delight

I am absolutely loving to share my food journey with you all and my food photography is becoming more of a passion.

Chhole bhature is an absolutely decadent treat that is a must-try if you visit Delhi. It is one of Delhi’s many Punjabi specialities.

This Punjabi Chole or Chana Masala reminds me of my University days in Delhi. When Baba used to visit me during my hostel days in Delhi University North Campus, both of us would often go to a Punjabi restaurant in Karol Bagh. I can never forget the absolutely delish taste of their Chole Bhatura. Later, after many years, we visited that restaurant again in 2016 during my India visit and the taste of their authentic Chole Bhatura was the same after so many years.

Chole has everything you love about curry, and it’s ready to go in forty minutes.

So much flavor in one bowl. Oh and the aroma of this curry! It is so so good! And this aroma alone makes this dish worth making.

While simmering my previously soaked white chickpeas, I have added a tea bag in the pressure cooker which gave that special colour to the Chole. I have also added Amchur powder (Dried Mango Powder) and little tamarind water for that extra flavour apart from the normal and roasted spices.

The Chole is served with tawa roti.
